CAPACITY & AVAILABILITY
Find the open slot, fast.
See who can take a job based on the day, working hours, time off, location, and the kind of work needed.

Availability is not just empty white space
A technician may look free on a calendar but be too far away, lack the needed certification, or have insufficient time before the next call. A useful availability view should combine job duration, schedule, service area, and eligibility checks.

Give dispatchers a sensible search
Start with a proposed service address, preferred time range, expected job length, and required trade or skill. Then show candidate technicians, why they qualify, and the next realistic appointment window. Never hide disqualifying facts behind a colorful heat map.

Handle different worker types
Some operations use installers, apprentices, subcontractors, and service technicians. Working hours and authorization may differ between those groups. The calendar needs clear labels and the ability to filter without mixing people who should not be assigned the same tasks.

Keep a human final decision
The system can make it faster to compare options, but dispatch still needs to judge customer urgency, equipment needs, and known job risks. Show the reasoning behind a recommendation and let an authorized user confirm the assignment.
Example to try: For a three-hour filtration installation in Pasadena, dispatch searches the next five days, checks installer skills and travel range, and confirms the first credible opening without overbooking a return trip.

A practical checklist
- Search by a proposed site address and realistic job duration rather than time alone.
- Filter by working hours, trade, install/service skills and approved worker type.
- Verify mileage calculations and map-provider assumptions before using a displayed radius.
- Explain why each candidate technician qualifies or is unavailable.
Good questions
What else would
you like to know?
Will the calendar search by mileage?
Distance-based qualification is part of the proposed workflow. Confirm the mapping provider and calculation rules before treating results as exact.
Can it include time off and subcontractors?
These are central design requirements but must be demonstrated against actual permission and availability data.
Does an open slot mean the technician is qualified?
Not automatically. Skills, hours, travel, job duration, and other rules should be checked.
