FOR TECHNICIANS

Less searching. More fixing.

The field team needs simple job details, useful history, and a short path to recording completed work.

Show the next stop first

A technician's phone should answer four questions quickly: Where am I going? Who do I contact? What is the reported problem? What do I need to do next? Leave complex owner reports out of the working view.

Make the record worth using

Technicians are more likely to complete notes when the fields are relevant and the screen makes sense. Photos, measurements, equipment history, and recommendations should connect to the job, not disappear into an unstructured message thread.

Do not create more office calls

The same clear job record should help the technician understand prior repairs, access instructions, customer decisions, and any return visits. That reduces avoidable back-and-forth when the information is already known.

Ask field staff to test it

Bring real devices and common scenarios to a product walkthrough. Test brightness, large tap targets, lost signal, customer signatures, permissions, and the final job-completion step. Every unnecessary screen matters when someone is finishing several calls a day.

Example to try: Before entering a commercial building, a technician looks up the access contact and asset location rather than calling dispatch for details.

A practical checklist

  • Open the day plan on a common phone without scrolling through management reports.
  • Find customer access instructions and the right asset history quickly.
  • Complete a job note with findings, parts and follow-up before leaving.
  • Test photo capture and poor connectivity only if those functions are actually available.

Good questions

What else would
you like to know?

Will technicians need a separate login?

Per-user authentication and roles are important requirements; verify the actual sign-in and permissions system.

Can I attach work photos?

That needs a working upload workflow and storage policy.

What if the phone loses signal?

Do not assume offline support until it is implemented and tested.
